Slemani to screen Iranian documentaries

The 3rd edition of the Slemani International Film Festival in Iraqi Kurdistan region has entered two Iranian documentaries to its international documentary competition.

The Iranian documentary lineup at this edition of the Slemani are ‘Song of God’ by Aref Mohammadi and ‘I Stay’ by Fatemeh Marzban.

The Iranian titles will compete with three other films in this section, including ‘The Scars of Dictatorship in the Life of an Actor’ by Rosa Berardo from Brazil, ‘Wounded Gold’ by Mustafa Hadzibrahimovic from Bosnia and Herzegovina, and ‘Armanli’ by Noura Gamal from Egypt.

The festival will also screen Iranian films ‘No Date, No Signature’ by Vahid Jalilvand, ‘Golnesa’ by Sattar Chamani-Gol, 'Alphabet' by Kianoush Abedi, 'The Pattern' by Azad Jannati, 'Balance' by Barzan Rostami, 'Her Birthday Night' by Farshad Mohiti, ‘Bystander’ by Sheyda Kashi, 'Take Me Home' by late director Abbas Kiarostami, '76 Minutes and 15 Seconds with Abbas Kiarostami' by Seifollah Samadian, 'The Paternal House' by Kianoush Ayyari, 'The Legend of the Ugly King' by Hossein Tabnak, and Iranian-Indian feature ‘Beyond the Clouds’ by Majid Majidi.

The jury members of the Slemani International Film Festival will present 14 “Golden Pine” awards to the participating movies in international and Kurdish sections of the festival.

The 3rd edition of the Slemani International Film Festival, slated for October 10-16, 2018, in Sulaymaniyah, Iraqi Kurdistan, will screen 16 feature films in the main competition section titled World Cinema.
